Stepdown Nurse (RN) in Independence, MO in Independence, MO

A contract opportunity is available for a registered nurse with experience in stepdown care, specializing in MS/Telemetry and Progressive Care Unit settings. This role involves providing expert nursing care primarily to patients recovering from complex abdominal surgeries and trauma, including bariatric procedures, urology cases, hepatobiliary surgeries, colorectal operations, and managing necrotizing soft tissue infections with advanced wound care. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients post-abdominal surgery and trauma within the scope of stepdown and PCU units. • Manage and monitor clinical care for patients requiring serial debridement and wound vac changes. • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care. • Float between departments and units as needed to meet patient care demands. • Adhere to all clinical protocols, including BLS and NIH certification requirements. Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, preferably in MS/Tele or PCU environments. • BLS and NIH certifications required. • Ability and willingness to float between units regularly. • Open to working 8 weekend shifts during a 6-week schedule period. • Night shift availability: 3 shifts of 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15). • Pending nursing licenses will be considered. • Local candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility.
