Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This role supports a step-down unit specializing in general medical and oncology care within a hospital setting. The position requires administering chemotherapy via IV and initiating IVs using equipment such as Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps. Documentation is completed through the EPIC system. Candidates must hold a Michigan RN license, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and either ONCC or ONS certification in hand. A minimum of two years' experience in PCU or step-down nursing is essential. Key Qualifications and Experience: • Michigan Registered Nurse license, current and active • BLS (American Heart Association) certification • ONCC or ONS certification, required and must be current • Minimum of two years' experience in PCU/Step-down nursing • Proficiency in administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs • Experience with Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation Location:Position is based in Portage, Michigan, a vibrant community known for its blend of natural beauty and modern amenities. Responsibilities: • Provide nursing care for general medical and oncology step-down patients • Administer chemotherapy and manage intravenous treatments • Utilize specialized equipment for patient monitoring and documentation • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes • Adapt to floating assignments including other medical-surgical areas such as acute units and emergency rooms • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios between 1:4 and 1:6, with support during higher census times Schedule and Work Details: • 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30 • Every other weekend scheduled, with block scheduling accommodated upon request • Call is not required • Floating to other medical-surgical units is expected • Scheduling includes a mix of assigned weekends and self-scheduled weekdays • Must be available at the start of the assignment with limited return-to-work requests This is a contract position offering the chance to contribute specialized skills in a dynamic clinical environment with supportive scheduling practices.
