Stepdown Registered Nurse - Arlington, Virginia in Arlington, VA

A skilled registered nurse is needed for a contract position in a cardiac stepdown/telemetry unit located in Arlington, VA. This role focuses on providing care to post-ICU cardiac surgery patients, requiring strong experience in cardiac telemetry and stepdown nursing, with proficiency in managing chest tubes and dysrhythmias. The schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week, working every other weekend, over a 13-week assignment. Qualifications / Desired Experience • Active Virginia RN license or Compact License at time of submission • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with strong cardiac telemetry and stepdown nursing skills • Experience managing chest tubes and dysrhythmias • Familiarity in caring for cardiovascular surgery patients and telemetry monitoring • Completion of clinical documentation training via EPIC, depending on previous EPIC experience Responsibilities • Provide nursing care for cardiac surgery patients transitioning from ICU to stepdown care • Manage telemetry monitoring, including identification and intervention for dysrhythmias • Care for patients with chest tubes, ensuring proper maintenance and monitoring • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans • Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC electronic health records system Schedule / Hours • Night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) • Three 12-hour shifts per week • Every other weekend required Location Insight Arlington, VA Arlington offers a vibrant urban experience adjacent to the nation's capital with a blend of historic and modern amenities.
