An opportunity is available for a skilled RN with stepdown or IMC experience to provide exceptional nursing care in an acute care hospital setting. This position involves managing complex patients in telemetry, neuro stepdown, and progressive care units, ensuring continuous cardiac and neurological monitoring, and delivering comprehensive care aligned with best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry data; manage dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response teams effectively.
• Provide post-cardiac procedure care including angiogram, MI, cath lab, and cardiac surgery support.
• Manage gastrointestinal needs such as feeding tube care and renal failure management including pre/post hemodialysis.
• Administer IV therapy including central lines, PICC lines, arterial lines, blood products, and phlebotomy.
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage PCA and procedural sedation.
• Care for neurological and orthopedic cases including craniotomy, CVA, spinal cord injuries, and total joint replacements.
• Manage respiratory support for ventilated patients, chest tubes, high flow oxygen therapies, and tracheostomy care.
• Employ wound care techniques and follow isolation precautions using Cerner charting software.
Qualifications:
• Active RN license in Illinois required.
• Minimum 1 year of stepdown/IMC nursing experience required; first-time stepdown nurses not accepted.
• BLS and NIH certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC care.
• Familiarity with cardiac care protocols, vascular access devices, neurological and orthopedic patient management.
• Competency in emergency response and rapid intervention.
• Experience in a teaching hospital and Level I Trauma center preferred.
• Ability to work day shifts with 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules and every other weekend.
