Stepdown Registered Nurse | Clemson, South Carolina in Clemson, SC

A critical care nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in progressive or stepdown units. This contract role focuses on delivering high-quality care to adults and geriatric patients with complex medical conditions requiring close monitoring and intervention. Key Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum 1 year of stepdown or progressive care nursing experience • Active RN license in South Carolina or multistate license required; pending licenses not accepted • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) • Proficiency in managing IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial and central lines • Skilled in care of ventilated patients, external CPAP/BiPAP, and isolation precautions • Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response including dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records (minimum 1 year) • Ability to float to other qualified units as needed within the healthcare system Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive nursing care for stepdown patients, often transferred from ICU, with diagnoses such as respiratory failure, sepsis, heart failure, DKA/HHS, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose • Monitor and manage patient conditions utilizing advanced critical care skills and protocols • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans • Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient status • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with hospital policies Shift and Schedule: • Nights, 3 shifts per week (12 hours each, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM) • Weekend requirement every other weekend • Adherence to call-off and scheduling policies as specified Location Highlights: Located in Clemson, South Carolina, this opportunity serves a community close to vibrant university culture and beautiful natural landscapes, including lakes and parks.
