
Stepdown Registered Nurse | East Lansing, Michigan in East Lansing, MI
Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care in a fast-paced stepdown unit, managing patients who require advanced monitoring and interventions following a critical or acute care stay. This position involves working night shifts with a commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety in a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide patient care on a stepdown unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio ranging from 1:4 to 1:6
• Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for accurate and efficient charting
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide patient management
• Float within scope to various adult acute care units as needed
• Adhere to hospital policies and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
Qualifications & Experience
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state required before start date
• Minimum of 2 years experience in telemetry or stepdown nursing; travel nursing experience required
• Proficient in EPIC charting system
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, CPI, NIH stroke scale, ventilator management, conscious sedation
Schedule & Hours
• Night shifts, 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Regular weekend requirement: 3 weekends out of a 4-week schedule
• Guaranteed minimum hours per schedule configuration
