A registered nurse with stepdown experience is needed for a contract position in Kansas City, MO. This role requires a minimum of two years of nursing experience, with preference given to candidates who have previous charge nurse and teaching hospital experience. This opportunity welcomes nurses who are new to the stepdown environment, offering a dynamic setting with various specializations.
Responsibilities include providing skilled nursing care in stepdown units such as MS / Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU / DOU / IMC, and more. The role entails cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and utilization of rapid response teams. Nurses will also administer specialized cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, renal, IV therapy, and respiratory care, including post-cardiac procedures and tracheostomy management. Professional knowledge of wound care, isolation precautions, and other advanced nursing skills is essential. Floating between departments and units is expected to meet facility needs.
Schedule :
Night shifts : 3x12-hour shifts per 13-week period (18 : 45 - 07 : 15)
Must be able to work 8 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule cycle
Holiday shifts and charge nurse assignments as needed
Qualifications / Desired Experience :
Current RN license with at least 2 years of experience
ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Experience in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and stepdown nursing
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Ability to float between multiple units as necessary
Must reside at least 75 miles from Kansas City location
