Stepdown Registered Nurse | Macon, Georgia in Macon, GA

A professional nursing opportunity is available in Macon, GA, on a contract basis. This position focuses on caring for patients in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), providing step-down care from ICU and emergency admissions. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of PCU RN experience and be comfortable managing complex patient cases with diverse diagnoses, including respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, stroke, and more. Key Responsibilities: • Provide expert nursing care to step-down ICU patients with critical and complex conditions. • Perform procedures such as tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and management of invasive lines including arterial and central venous lines. • Manage drips including insulin and heparin drips, and monitor vital parameters closely. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists, and resource nurses. • Assist with bedside procedures and participate actively in patient rounds and care planning. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with minimum 2 years of PCU experience. • NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certifications required; CCRN certification preferred. • Ability to perform EKG competency exam (BCR required). • Skilled in PIV starts, glucommander, drips management, and invasive monitoring. • Experience with EMR systems such as EPIC and using advanced medical technology. Schedule: • 12-hour shifts, either 7 AM7 PM or 7 PM7 AM. • Rotation includes 5-6 weekend shifts every 12 weeks and coverage of major holidays. • No on-call responsibilities.
