Stepdown Registered Nurse | Martinsville, Indiana in Martinsville, IN

This opportunity seeks experienced registered nurses skilled in stepdown care within a mixed acuity environment, including ICU and progressive care unit settings. The role demands proficiency in cardiovascular and thoracic postoperative care, managing complex cardiac patients such as those recovering from CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS surgeries. Candidates must be comfortable with patient ratios ranging typically from 1:2 in ICU to 1:3-4 in PCU settings, with flexibility across med/surg, progressive, and ICU levels of care. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Minimum 18 months of RN stepdown or related clinical experience • Current Indiana RN license and required certifications: ACLS, BCLS (NIH certification preferred) • Skilled in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management • Experience with arterial line, central line, PICC line care, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips • Preferred: Familiarity with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, ventricular assist devices (LVAD, RVAD, Impella), sheath removal, and ventilator management • Ability to work every other weekend and required to cover 2 out of 3 major holidays • Past charge nurse experience is advantageous • Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs Responsibilities: • Provide advanced nursing care for cardiovascular and oncology patients in a short-term acute care setting • Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac surgery and interventions with comprehensive use of monitoring equipment • Administer blood products and manage complex medication drips safely • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes • Adhere to all hospital protocols, maintaining documentation via Cerner electronic charting Schedule: • 4 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30) • Option for 8- or 10-hour shifts totaling 40 hours or alternate 12-hour shift schedules Location Overview: Martinsville, Indiana, offers a welcoming community with small-town charm and access to broad healthcare services.
