
Stepdown Registered Nurse | Middletown, Ohio in Carlisle, OH
Job Description
A 48-hour night shift opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in Stepdown care with a strong background in managing complex patient needs in a 1:5 to 1:6 nursing ratio environment. This contract position requires expertise in advanced cardiac and critical care treatments, as well as flexibility to float at multiple campuses within a close radius.
Location:
This role is based in a dynamic healthcare setting in the Middletown, OH area, providing access to a range of nearby facilities within approximately 15 miles. Middletown offers a balanced lifestyle with suburban comforts and urban amenities close by, making it a convenient location for professionals seeking a community-focused living environment with access to larger metropolitan areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage patient care for those with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, COPD exacerbations, and overdoses in an Advanced Care Unit setting.
• Administer and monitor IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin.
• Accurately read and interpret EKG strips; maintain safety and compliance with critical care protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Float among specialty clusters and campuses as assigned, supporting nursing functions flexibly.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Minimum 1.5 years experience with demonstrated 1:5 patient ratio Stepdown or PCU nursing (ICU experience alone does not qualify).
• Proficient with EPIC electronic health records system.
• Current BLS and NIH certifications required; ACLS preferred.
• Competency in EKG telemetry as verified through online assessment.
• IV start skills mandatory.
• Experience with N95 fitting or PAPR usage is required when working on specific units.
• Prior travel nursing experience is desirable.
• Availability to work every other weekend and holidays.
Schedule:
• Night shift, 4 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Overtime compensation applies after 48 hours per assignment.
Additional Details:
• Traveler nurses will be first to float as needed, including between multiple campuses within the region.
• Employer reserves the right to cancel shifts or agreements with appropriate notice.
• Navy blue scrubs are the assigned uniform.
