Job Description
Providing nursing care in a high-acuity stepdown unit requires precision, critical thinking, and a strong clinical foundation. This role focuses on delivering exceptional patient care within a progressive care setting during night shifts. Candidates must be prepared to work a 7p to 7a schedule over a 13-week contract assignment in Big Lake, AK.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Current Alaska RN license required at time of application; temporary licenses will not be accepted.
• Completion of Alaska RN fingerprinting during onboarding is mandatory.
• Minimum of 1 year of telemetry and 1 year of stepdown unit experience.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications required.
• Familiarity with bedside monitors and proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records is preferred.
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
Location:
This position is based in a main hospital building on the 4th floor, supporting a 19-bed stepdown unit. The night shift team typically includes several RNs and CNAs, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1. The facility is located in Big Lake, AK, a scenic area known for its breathtaking landscapes and outdoor recreational opportunities, making it a great place to balance professional responsibilities with quality of life.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and provide care for patients in a stepdown/progressive care setting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Operate and interpret bedside monitoring equipment to detect patient changes.
• Document patient information accurately using EPIC.
• Adhere to all unit policies, procedures, and dress code (navy blue scrubs).
Schedule:
• Night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM
