Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in stepdown care to join a surgical trauma unit on a contract basis in Denton, TX. This role focuses on providing high-level nursing care to patients recovering from acute surgical interventions in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. The assignment offers a 7 PM to 7 AM schedule, ideal for professionals seeking overnight hours. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver nursing care to patients undergoing trauma surgery, orthopedic, vascular, neuro/spine, and general surgical procedures. • Manage patients with neurological diagnoses, post-op cardiovascular care, and critical respiratory or cardiac conditions. • Administer and monitor intravenous drips including heparin, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, and others according to protocols. • Utilize telemetry monitoring and conduct thorough assessments every four hours. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to fluctuating patient acuity and census. Qualifications and Experience: • Current RN licensure with stepdown or progressive care experience required. • Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIH mandatory. • Comfortable with Meditech EMR and skilled in patient assessment in a high-acuity setting. • Trauma or orthopedic nursing experience preferred but not required. • Excellent communication skills and a flexible, team-oriented mindset.
