Job Description
An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse in a step-down cardiac unit, providing advanced care for patients recovering from complex cardiovascular surgeries and procedures. This contract position offers a chance to apply specialized cardiology skills in a high-acuity setting, supporting patients after CABG, valve replacements, LVAD placements, heart transplants, and other critical interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from major cardiac surgeries within a 22-bed unit.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and titrate cardiac drips to ensure optimal cardiac function.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, charge nurses, rapid response teams, and intensivists to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment such as Philips monitors, Zoll devices, bladder scanners, and Epic EMR to document and monitor patient status.
• Provide telemetry monitoring and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
• Active RN licensure with at least 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in cardiac step-down or critical care environments.
• Cardiology experience including familiarity with CABG, valve repair/replacement, LVADs, heart transplant post-op care.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification for resource team involvement.
• PCCN certification preferred.
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and titration of cardiac medications.
