Job Description
An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in step-down care to support inpatient nursing units. This contract position offers the chance to contribute clinical expertise and provide excellent patient care within a collaborative healthcare setting.
Location: Madison, WI
Schedule/Hours:
• 0.9 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)
• Day shift: 6:30 AM 7:00 PM
• Rotating schedule between weekday and weekend shifts
Key Responsibilities:
• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
• Administer medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques, policies, and state regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation according to standards of care.
• Develop and execute individualized patient care plans including patient and family education as prescribed by physicians and hospital policies.
• Engage in unit performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activities.
• Offer clinical guidance to support patients longitudinal care needs across departments.
• Use critical thinking to ensure patient safety and quality experience, escalating concerns appropriately.
Desired Qualifications:
• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
• CPR certification
• Step-down nursing experience preferred
• Ability to adapt to floating between inpatient units based on census and care needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
