Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Oakland, CA in Oakland, CA

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with specialized experience in pre-operative care and post-anesthesia recovery. This role is centered on facilitating the surgical process by preparing patients pre-operatively and providing recovery care post-surgery. The position is contract-based with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, with no on-call or weekend duties. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct pre-operative patient assessments including IV insertion, catheterization, glucose monitoring, and blood draws. • Execute physician orders accurately and efficiently. • Manage patient recovery in both the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). • Discharge patients safely to the appropriate unit or home following surgery. • Collaborate closely with surgical and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • California Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with a strong focus on Pre-Op and PACU settings. • Proven ability to perform detailed patient assessments and execute complex nursing interventions. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a dynamic team environment. Schedule and Location: • Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week (Monday Friday). • Shift Options: 6:00 AM 4:30 PM or 11:30 AM 10:00 PM. • Location: Oakland, California.
