Substitute School Nurse - Part-time in Hanover, MA

South Shore Technical seeks a Registered Nurse to work in our Health Office to work collaboratively with and under the direction of the School Nurse, Candidates holding DESE licensure as a School Nurse are preferred. Candidates must be eligible for a DESE Licensure waiver. See below*. Schedule and Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM, on days when school is in session. Position Assignment Dates: Start immediately through the last day of school (anticipated for June 12, 2026). Last day of school subject to change based on school cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen events. Compensation: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour, based on experience and credentials. Qualifications: - Massachusetts Registered Nurse - Licensed by DESE as a School Nurse or eligible for a licensure waiver*. • Bachelor's or Master's degree is preferred.- Minimum of 2 full years of employment as a Registered Nurse in a child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing setting.*Waiver eligibility: Bachelor's degree; Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts; A minimum of two full years of employment as a Registered Nurse in a child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing setting. Job Responsibilities: - Support the School Nurse in all aspects of the school's Health Office. - Work with teachers to help develop adaptations for students who are physically challenged/medically dependent. - Assist staff (includes teachers and support staff) in understanding and working with students who are physically challenged/medically dependent.. • Perform appropriate clerical duties pertaining to students' health and wellbeing. - Prepare reports. - Administer emergency first aid; assess accidents/injuries and illnesses and treat as appropriate. - Report injury/illness to parents and administration. • Arrange transportation when necessary. - Report to Assistant Director/Principal all accidents and acute illnesses.- Work with Department of Public Health. - Take action as necessary for safeguarding the health of the students and staff of the school. - Participate in school-wide Safety Committee activities and initiatives.- Participate as a member of Student Services in coordination with Special Education and Guidance Services. • Work in concert with School Doctor/Athletic Director scheduling physicals for team sports. - Maintain all student Health Records and update immunizations as needed and directed by the Department of Public Health. - Continue testing programs of hearing, vision, color blindness, and scoliosis as mandated by the Department of Public Health.
