At SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, we believe that nursing is more than just a career; it's a calling. We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Surgery Registered Nurse to join our team!
Position Overview:
As a Surgery Registered Nurse, you will deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of our patients before, during, and after surgery.
Work Schedule:
• Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
• Occasional adjustments: 6:30 AM-3:00 PM depending on surgery schedule
• Stay late: Approximately 4-5 days per month
• On-call: 5-6 days per month
• Weekend call: 6-8 weekends on rotation
• Call response time: 30 minutes (or you may remain in a room provided)
Compensation:
Competitive hourly pay ranging from $31.21 to $49.94, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform scrub functions including selecting and handling instruments and supplies used during procedures.
• Monitor and communicate patient conditions while managing overall nursing care.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, and necessary equipment for each procedure.
• Apply evidence-based practice to ensure quality nursing care tailored to age-specific and clinical needs.
• Demonstrate professional nursing standards and utilize the ANA Code of Ethics in daily practice.
• Maintain a safe environment and remain vigilant at all times.
• Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent educational background.
Experience:
• No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Frequent standing, walking, and mobility within the surgical unit.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must possess good vision, depth perception, and hearing capabilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
