Backus Hospital has been a cornerstone of healthcare in Eastern Connecticut for over 118 years, providing vital services as the only trauma center in the region and offering LIFE STAR helicopter services. About the Role:
As a Surgical Registered Nurse, you will work within a dynamic, collaborative environment with interdisciplinary teams focused on patient-centered care. You will implement evidence-based practices essential for meeting the diverse needs of patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize the nursing process to develop comprehensive care plans.
• Provide safe and effective nursing care in accordance with established protocols.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Deliver compassionate care while addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Experience: At least one year of nursing experience or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• License and Certification: Current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Education: BSN or MSN preferred.
• Experience: Two or more years of experience in the surgical area.
• License and Certification: Certification in the clinical area, such as CNOR.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of nursing principles and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and medical personnel.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while exemplifying flexibility and teamwork.
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining patient confidentiality.
