
Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - Urgent Hiring in East Haven, CT

You will work under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures. Your leadership will include supervising non-RN personnel and, when in charge, delegating and overseeing unit activities. Flexibility in working across various nursing units may be required, ensuring a seamless operation to meet patient needs.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.
• Develop, communicate, and document tailored care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Implement and coordinate care plans effectively, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
• Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, adjusting as needed and facilitating referrals.
• Assess patients' educational needs and provide relevant teaching, documenting the outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, fostering their growth and integration into the team.
• Assume the role of Charge Nurse when required, maintaining high standards of care.
• Meet and exceed performance expectations within customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
• Exhibit proficiency in caring for neuro patients, demonstrating strong neuro assessment skills.
• Manage airway care competently for neuro patients and trached individuals.
• Assist physicians during special neuro procedures with confidence.
• Understand and deliver the 'Tia' teaching program content.
• Conduct suctioning procedures as per established protocols.
• Demonstrate expertise in halo brace patient care.
• Manage nursing responsibilities for ventilated patients effectively.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and literature searches online.
Experience
N/A
Licensure
Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut.
Special Skills
BLS certification required.
Additional Information
Med/Surg RN experience preferred.
