The RN's responsibilities include: • Building and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and families while integrating cultural and diversity considerations into practice. • Effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members. • Respecting and incorporating the patient’s values, preferences, and needs into assessments, care planning, and evaluations. It encompasses: • Assessment: Collecting relevant data to assess the healthcare consumer's situation. • Diagnosis: Analyzing data to identify actual and potential health issues. • Outcomes Identification: Determining expected outcomes tailored for the healthcare consumer. • Planning: Developing and modifying individualized care plans. • Implementation: Executing the plan of care. • Coordination of Care: Ensuring seamless care delivery and transitions. • Health Teaching and Health Promotion: Using strategies to enhance health and safety. • Evaluation: Assessing the progress towards desired outcomes. • Standards of Professional Performance This includes ethical practices, cultural congruence, effective communication, leadership, education, and integrating evidence-based practice into nursing roles. The RN will: • Practice ethically and uphold a commitment to culturally inclusive practices. • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders. • Collaborate with consumers and key stakeholders in nursing practice. • Exhibit leadership within the nursing setting. • Continuously seek and promote knowledge and competency in nursing. • Incorporate evidence and research into practice. • Contribute to the overall quality of nursing practice. • Evaluate nursing practices, resource utilization, and maintain environmental health standards. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire. Experience: The foundational job description for all RNs encourages advancement through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. Licensure: Active and current RN license in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged. Special Skills: RNs are encouraged to participate in the SPIRE clinical advancement program. Physical Demand: This position requires prolonged standing, walking, and the use of sight, hearing, and touch. RNs may encounter infectious diseases and physical, mental, and emotional challenges while providing patient care, including assisting with lifting patients weighing from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds.
