An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Operating Room expertise, specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and trauma cases. This contract position requires a dedicated professional to provide exceptional surgical nursing care in a dynamic, fast-paced operating room environment. Location: This role is based in Milton, West Virginia, conveniently close to a prominent regional academic medical center known for serving a broad patient population across multiple counties in West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, and southern Ohio. The proximity to this major medical hub offers exposure to a diverse range of cases and a collaborative healthcare community. Responsibilities: • Deliver perioperative nursing care for orthopedic, neurological, and trauma surgery patients. • Manage patient preparation, assist during surgery, and provide post-operative care following established protocols. • Participate in call coverage, including: • Four call shifts per month covering weekdays and weekends. • Weekday evening (5 PM to 11 PM) and night (11 PM to 7 AM) shifts. • Weekend 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM). • Maintain accurate documentation using electronic health records (Cerner system). • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary surgical teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes. • Adhere to safety standards and infection control protocols. Qualifications & Desired Experience: • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with Operating Room specialization. • BLS certification required. • Strong experience in orthopedic, neurological, and trauma surgical nursing. • Prior experience using Cerner electronic charting system is preferred. • Ability to fulfill call schedule requirements. • Adaptability in a high-acuity surgical environment. Schedule: • Day shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. • Call shifts as described above.
