Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Specialty Care ICU position requiring a NM or compact RN license and recent cardiac critical care experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a cardiac specialty critical care unit within a hospital setting12-hour day shifts with 3 shifts per weekFloating between departments and locations within 20 miles may be requiredCares for cardiac critical care and intensive care patient populationsEpic EMR experience is preferred but not requiredAssignment length is 13 weeksProvides direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs and responsesCoordinates patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and familiesAdministers medications and treatments as prescribed and documents according to policySupervises LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel on shiftComprehensive orientation and unit-specific competency testing requiredA 50-mile radius rule is enforced; local candidates are not eligiblePrevious permanent staff must have one year separation to be eligible as a travelerCandidates may be expected to float between units and nearby locationsFirst time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
Requirements
Active NM or compact RN license requiredMust have Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications through AHA, American Health and Safety, or Red CrossNIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification requiredMinimum of 2 years recent experience in a 12-plus bed cardiac critical care or ICU requiredMust have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignmentAssociate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) requiredMust pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during first week of assignment; failure results in dismissalOpen heart, LVAD, and balloon pump experience preferred
