Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Charge Nurse for a Long Term Care position in Alaska, requiring an active AK RN license and strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities
• Work in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting with both day and night shift options
• Patient population includes individuals from birth to elderly requiring skilled and long-term nursing care
• Variable shifts with possible assignments as floor nurse or unit manager
• Position involves oversight of patient care delivery and coordination of nursing personnel
• Responsible for directing and coordinating care of patients across the continuum, applying nursing standards and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Supervises unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs with input from the director
• Orientation is provided on Tuesday and Wednesday before starting on the floor
• Hospital housing is provided as shared units with private bedrooms; no dogs are allowed and traveler coordinates directly with the facility
• Economy-level flight reimbursement is available with required documentation; facility assists with airport pickup for arrivals
• Travelers must provide flight itinerary information one week prior to start date
• Work in a remote area with a supportive team environment
Requirements
• Active Alaska RN license in good standing
• Minimum of 4 years of charge nurse experience in a clinic or urgent care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for the duration of the assignment
• Completion of an NLN-approved nursing education program; BSN preferred
• Ability to arrive with documentation of core nursing competencies including IV/central line care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect, pain management, blood transfusions, and end-of-life care
• Must pass a medication calculation math test for adults and pediatrics upon arrival
