American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a WA or compact license and strong skills in high-acuity, large-volume ED settings. Responsibilities
Work in a high-acuity, large-volume Emergency Department at a Level III trauma center 34-bed main ED with 12 hallway beds, organized in zones including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone' Neonate to geriatric patient population including pediatrics, trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and substance use disorder cases Typical patient ratios of 1:3-5 depending on acuity Use of Epic EMR (Epic experience strongly preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors 12-hour day shifts with variable start times; every other weekend and holiday coverage required No floating required Responsibilities include emergency care for a wide range of acute cases, including trauma, stroke, cardiac, and behavioral health Ability to manage medication drips and assist with trauma and code situations Support staff includes ED techs, medical assistants, charge nurse, hospitalist, mid-level providers, and access to IV/VAT teams until 2300 Must draw own labs at night shifts Standard onboarding includes hospital NEO and 1-2 unit shifts with preceptor support Flexible scheduling with a 6-week schedule cycle Must be willing to work every other weekend and select holidays Scrub color is any solid color with no logos First-time travelers not accepted Requirements
Active WA or compact state RN license Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity, large-volume setting Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC Strong emergency nursing skills, including experience with critical care and pediatric patients Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap/ventilators, medication drips, and splinting Must be proficient in barcode scanning medication administration Triage experience required and must pass facility’s triage test prior to independently triaging Epic EMR experience strongly recommended Benefits
