American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Room position in an acute care setting with California RN licensure and strong clinical certifications required. Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Room of an acute care hospital Emergency department has 24 beds and runs a separate fast track area Patient population includes cardiac, sepsis, STEMI, ETOH, stroke, DKA, and general emergency cases Daily census averages 250 patient visits Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 2:1 to 4:1 Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR system 12-hour shifts with varied start times, including day and evening shifts Required to work every other weekend, with potential for every weekend depending on staffing needs Holiday coverage is expected as part of staff rotation No floating required One-day unit-specific orientation provided Support staff includes ER techs, phlebotomists, 24/7 respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and medical providers Monitors are hardwired GE units located in patient rooms and at the nurses’ station Main responsibilities include assessment, triage, and management of diverse and high-acuity emergency patients STEMI receiving facility with defined process for fast track, acute, and anticipate disposition care No inpatient pediatric or behavioral health unit care responsibilities ER techs and additional support staff assist with technical and safety duties Scrub color for RNs is blue First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must be prepared to pass a sterile technique and Relias Dysrhythmia exam as part of onboarding Central line and Foley insertion skills are tested during onboarding Requirements
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years emergency department RN experience required Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred Two professional references required, including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years Must provide copy of current driver’s license for consideration Trauma experience preferred Candidates may not have been employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the previous 12 months Benefits
