Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift ICU position, requiring BLS and ACLS certifications and an active NC or compact RN license. Responsibilities
• Work in a 27-bed medical and surgical combined ICU within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general surgery, orthopedics, CHF, diabetes, general illness, and sepsis
• Typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5
• Three aides and a unit secretary provide additional support on the floor
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00) with self-scheduling and a 4-week schedule model
• Weekend and holiday shifts are required
• Floating may occur to overflow and less critical ICU units on a rotation
• Uses MEDITECH EMR; experience not required
• Primary responsibilities include caring for critically ill patients in the ICU with diverse diagnoses
• Orientation for travelers consists of 3 shifts, including hospital-wide introduction and two shifts on the unit
• Team includes other RNs, aides, and a unit secretary for support
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates are accepted at the regular rate
• Scrub or dress code details not specified
• RTO (requested time off) must be kept to a minimum and approved prior to offer Requirements
• Active RN license for NC or compact state, with no disciplinary action
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA
• IV start skills required
• Minimum of 1 year current ICU experience relevant to the position
• Employment documentation for the past 3 years
• Two supervisory references required
