American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring CA licensure, charge experience, and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 14 L&D beds and 2 operating suites
Patient population includes laboring patients, inductions, cesareans, antepartum complications, fetal demises, and triage patients at 20 weeks gestation or greater
3–4 births per day on average, with nurse-patient ratios following AWHONN guidelines
RNs are required to titrate Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium drips
Use of Cerner EMR system and Fetal Link for electronic fetal monitoring
12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week with every other weekend required
1 on-call shift every 2 weeks is mandatory
Light blue scrubs are provided each shift
Work with an OB tech and typically a free charge nurse present on the unit
OB/neonatologist coverage is available 24/7
Pulse oximetry is routinely used with fetal monitoring for magnesium sulfate patients
Must cover 1 major and 2 minor holidays as assigned
A one-day unit-specific orientation is provided
First to float if floating is required by the facility
Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year, except for outside agency PRN employment
RNs may be required to pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique skills check during orientation
Not all first-time travelers may be accepted depending on facility policy
Requirements
Active CA RN license required at the time of application; pending licenses not accepted
Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Charge RN experience in Labor & Delivery is required
Experience titrating IV drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
Experience using Cerner EMR preferred
Two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehire
Copy of driver's license required for consideration
