American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring EPIC proficiency and ability to administer insulin and heparin drips. Responsibilities
Work in a Medical Surgical unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients Daily census is approximately 43 patients with target ratios of 1:6-7 Care for general Med/Surg patients, including those requiring insulin and heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and occasional BiPap support 12-hour night shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week Assigned to every other weekend and required to work holidays Floating to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding may be required EPIC is the charting system used and prior experience is required Charge nurse responsibilities are required on night shifts Call required if scheduled for on-call shifts Staff may be assigned to storm or hurricane team and expected to report during catastrophic events Responsibilities include caring for adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients, administering specified drips, and handling wound care and respiratory support as needed Assigned to an Inclement Weather Team with possible activation during major events Unit orientation is 24 hours Navy scrubs are required Every other weekend and major holiday coverage are required; must work 2 of 3 major holidays if assignment includes those dates First-time travelers are accepted for this position Candidates with former employment at the specified health system must have a 12-month gap before applying Candidates must not work simultaneously as travel Per Diem clinicians within the health system Fatigue policy limits to 5 consecutive workdays or 60 hours per week Modules must be completed prior to start and annually Requirements
Active NC or Compact RN license required at time of start (pending acceptable for consideration) Minimum of 2 years of relevant RN experience Current BCLS certification required EPIC experience required Must be able to administer insulin and heparin drips Must pass EKG testing prior to start Maximum 7 days RTO allowed, not in first week and not on holidays Candidate must be willing to float without restrictions Benefits
