Job Details
• Med/Surge Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
• Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications orally, subcutaneously, through an IV, and record them.
• Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action when patient displays adverse symptoms.
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
• Teach patients and significant others how to manage illness/injury, including post-treatment home care needs.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Utilize time management skills.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately, completely, and timely in appropriate format and forms.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned depending on assignment setting.
• This position is for the Riverton campus.
Job Requirements
• Must have ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Must have Wyoming RN or multi-state RN license.
• Years of experience in job's specialty: 2 years.
