TheraEX Staffing Services is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Winnemucca, Nevada.

HOUSING: Confirm the candidate has looked into housing in the area with the submittal. Leads available.

- Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center?: CAH; Stabilize and transfer out STEMIs and Strokes.
- # Beds/Trauma Bays: 8 Beds
- Do you have a Fast Track: None
- Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage?: No designated triage nurse; either
nurse in the dept can triage patients. Utilize the Client triage model.
- Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER?: No separate hold area, hold
patients are kept in the ED.
- Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? : 2 designated safe rooms for Psych patients, security will do 15 min
rounding on these patients to assist nursing staff.
- Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER?: In house 24/7 and will round throughout the hospital.
- On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day?: 700/month; 30/day.
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 depending on acuity and census.
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, Prefer NIHSS.
- Common diagnoses: ED sees a lot of higher acuity patients due to having the Walk-in Clinic; Cardiac Issues (arrhythmias,
STEMIs, NSTEMIs, HTN, CHF Exer), strokes/post-strokes, traumas (MVAs, Falls), ortho cases, GI issues, ETOH, overdoses,
COPD, and more. Population: Peds (25%), Adults; large hispanic population.
- Experience: Must have triage experience. Must be comfortable with conscious sedation. Will consider travelers from all
Trauma levels. Prefer: Critical Access Experience.
- Common drips?: All critical drips and sedation (ketamine) for bedside procedures.
- ED Physician/Mid-Levels: 1 ED physician onsite at a time; 24 hr shifts.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Designated working charge nurse, available as a resource; Manager will assist with
Triage when needed.
- Nurse aides: No CNAs in ED; primary care nursing; will precept nursing, EMT, and paramedic students- typically assigned
to perm staff but travelers can be asked to assist.
- Is RT in the ER 24/7?: RT in house 24/7; Assist in intubation; ABGs, administering resp treatments, and will managing resp
equipment; Nurses can be asked to assist in managing any resp issues and equipment.
- RT Equipment- RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: All Resp Equipment: NC, High Flow, Cpap,
Bipap, Trachs, & Vents.
- Monitor Techs in the ER: No monitor techs, Mindray Central Monitoring, and transport tele available. Nurses are asked to
read and interpret their own telemetry.
- X-Ray or CT in the ER: Xray/CT will assist with transport unless patient is critical and then RN is to accompany patient;
Radiology dept located close to the ED.
- Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: RN to do labs draws upon IV starts; phlebotomy available if needed.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 6-6; No mid shifts. Schedule is made out by the manager; will typically make travelers schedules a
block schedule of (6 on, 8 off. however, travelers are asked to stay flexible and help fill gaps in permanent schedule.
Manager will work with travelers on schedule and is mindful not to make someone 1 on, 1 off.
- Weekend Requirements: EOW or 1-2 weekends per months
- Holiday Requirements: Every other for Holiday Rotation; May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation
- Is there call or a standby requirement?: None
- Floating Requirements: None; ED staff is part of Rapid Response team and 1 ED RN may be asked to respond to RRTs and
Codes in house.
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Unit Specific Orientation: 1 day General Orientation; 1- 2 days with a preceptor.
