ICU RN – Unit Overview
Beds: 4 | Ratios: 1:2
Certifications: BLS, ACLS (Preferred: TNCC, PALS)
Experience: ICU required | First-time travelers accepted
Common Diagnoses: DKA, Septic Shock, ETOH withdrawal, Hypoxemia, ARDS, COVID
Drips (Titrated): Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, Precedex, Fentanyl, Insulin, Esmolol, Versed, Ketamine, etc.
Support & Staffing
Charge Nurse: Yes (covers MS/IMCU/ICU, no assignment unless needed)
Nurse Aides: Yes, shared with MS
Hospitalist 24/7 | Intensivist: M–F 8–5, Telemedicine after hours/weekends
RT: 24/7
Monitor Techs: Yes – must interpret tele (Mindray)
Schedule: 7a–7:30p or 7p–7:30a | 2-week block | Nights grouped 3–4 in a row
Weekends: Every other | Holidays: Rotation if scheduled
Floating: To IMCU/MS (full assignment); possible ED if experienced
Scrubs: Any color
Orientation: 1–2 shifts with preceptor
Call: None
Notes: 40-bed Level IV trauma community hospital | Small facility — must function independently and with limited resources.
