Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – West Virginia or compact state
• BLS Certification (required before first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required before first shift)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or bedside clinical experience
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to identify teaching needs and care goals
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning
• Communicate changes in patient status to care team members to ensure continuity and safety
• Supervise and provide direction to LPNs, CNAs, and orientees, delegating tasks as appropriate
• Maintain a safe environment by following hospital safety policies and procedures
• Contribute to a positive healthcare team environment and participate in unit team-building activities
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
