Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med Tele Float OB Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med-Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in similar facility size Description: Department: Med Surg and Med-Tele Peds. Number of Beds: 17 beds, combining Med-Surg Tele and Pediatric patients. Nurse to Patient Ratios: Tele 1:4, Pediatric 1:4, Med-Surg 1:4-5. Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS preferred. Common Diagnoses: CHF, pneumonia, COPD, atrial fibrillation, bundle branch block, dehydration, post-operative surgical patients (both pediatric and adult). Experience in similar facility size is required. RNs are required to titrate drips per policy. Common titratable medications include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone. There are no tele/monitor techs on this unit; RNs monitor their own tele strips using Mindray monitors. The charge nurse does not take an assignment as they are responsible for all emergency room and Med-Surg patients. Nurse aids on this unit work with a ratio of 1:8. RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow devices. Self-scheduling is available, with management balancing shifts and considering block scheduling on a case-by-case basis. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, with potential for every third weekend. Holidays are scheduled every other holiday. RNs could be placed on call for low census on additional shifts. Floating requirements may include tasking in the emergency room for additional support and IV starts. Scrub color is flexible; any color or pattern is acceptable, and closed-toe shoes are required.
