Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Ortho Neuro Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1 Year of Nursing Experience Required License: Registered Nurse Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EPIC Experience - Previous Experience with Intermediate/Stepdown Level Patients - Comfortability to Take MedSurg Assignments Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a mixed acuity unit that encompasses Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patients. The unit sees a variety of surgical cases, including urology and orthopedic surgeries. Neuro and spinal surgical experience is preferred, particularly with post-neuro-intervention cases. General medical cases, including pneumonia, COPD, and renal failure, are also part of the patient mix. Providers will work under a pod structure, managing 8 patients per pod with support from a Nurse Aide. Patient nurse ratios are 1:4 in PCU assignments and 1:8 for Nurse Aides. Charge nurses are present and do not carry a patient load to support the staff. The ability to read and interpret cardiac strips, manage chest tubes, and perform wound care is essential. Titration of medications such as heparin and insulin will be required, with training provided as needed. Resource Nurse and Nurse Clinician support are available during day shifts. Travelers may float to any adult inpatient unit as necessary. Schedules are created in 6-week increments with possible weekend rotations. Holiday requests must be submitted prior to scheduling. Time off requests can be approved for 1.5 weeks with an extension of the contract. Audits are performed monthly to ensure compliance with patient care standards.
