Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 16 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Telemetry Description: Unit Notes: RN position in a stepdown unit. Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius. Driver's license required and will be used for qualification. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Failure to comply with the fingernail policy will result in contract termination. RN's must pass an open book exam during orientation. Resources will be provided to ensure successful completion. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass or contract termination will occur. Patient mix includes adults, with rare instances of pediatric patients aged 15 and older. The RN ratio is 1:4 for both day and night shifts. Shifts are 12 hours, from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Scrubs are required in navy blue for nursing staff. Support staff includes nursing assistants, educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness. Common medications include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin. Unit challenges include staffing issues. Floating may occur, ideally to medical-surgical areas based on need. The focus on patient experience includes hourly rounding and responsiveness. Successful candidates will be able to manage daily responsibilities effectively. The unit emphasizes teamwork and support among staff members. Cancellation policy: The facility can cancel a maximum of 4 shifts for 13-week assignments. The electronic medical record system in use is EPIC. This position does not require a BSN.
