Psychiatric RN Job Details
• Location: Bangor, ME 04401 (Maine psychiatric nursing jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Facility – Pediatric & Adult Units
• Start Date: February 16, 2026
• End Date: May 16, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Employment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Shift: 2:00 PM – 11:30 PM (8-hour evening shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
• Free Parking: Yes
Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications
• Active Maine RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 1 year of behavioral health nursing experience required
• Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred (manager may consider candidates without pediatric experience)
• BLS certification
• Experience with de-escalation techniques and physical restraints (no chemical restraints)
• Ability to run group sessions and perform medication passes
• Strong documentation skills (Cerner EMR experience a plus)
• First-time travel nurses welcome!
Psychiatric RN Responsibilities
• Deliver direct nursing care to pediatric (ages 5-18) and adult (18+) psychiatric patients in a secure inpatient setting
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Facilitate group therapy sessions and participate in specialized therapies (pet therapy, community gardening)
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and physical restraints when necessary
• Document patient care and progress using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team (Psych Techs, Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists)
• Float between pediatric and adult psychiatric units as needed
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training
• Maintain professional appearance (solid color scrubs required)
