Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a minimum of 3 years of Level I trauma and general OR experience, holding an active IL RN license.
Responsibilities Position is based in an acute care hospital with a Level I trauma center designation Work in a 23-room operating room department, covering all service lines except cardiovascular Handles a diverse surgical caseload including trauma, bariatric, neuro, ortho, general, plastics, transplant, and urology Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts (6:45 - 17:15) Weekend coverage required one shift per month On-call required approximately once per week Floating within skill set is rarely required, but all travelers must be willing to float within hospital or to affiliate facilities if needed Cerner EMR is used; Cerner experience is preferred Scrubs are provided for this role Responsibilities include providing perioperative nursing care to a wide range of complex surgical patients in a Level I trauma setting Must be proficient in emergency management including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia Structured onboarding and required attendance at an in-person orientation No block scheduling is available for this role Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment RTO must be reviewed and approved by management; up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved Candidates who have been permanent or PRN employees must have a 12 month gap before applying as a traveler
Requirements Active IL RN license in hand or proof of application at time of consideration Minimum 3 years of recent operating room RN experience, including Level I trauma experience Current BLS certification required CNOR and CST certifications preferred General OR and trauma surgery experience required Required experience in bariatric, general surgery, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma cases as specified Ability to operate equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables Professional skills required include administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol, and urinary bladder catheterization First-time travelers for the OR are not accepted Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify
