Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatric Behavioral Health to join our dynamic Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing acute mental health crises in children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years.
Job Details
• Unit: Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00)
• Patient Ratios:
• Days: 1:4-5 RNs
• Nights: 1:2 RNs for 20 Beds
• Daily Census: 18-20 patients
• Float Requirement: Yes, based on unit needs
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request
Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this position:
• 1 year of nursing experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting
• Valid BLS Certification
• Experience with treatments for:
• Anxiety Disorders
• Bipolar Disorder
• Depressive Disorders
• Psychotic Disorders
• Schizophrenia-Spectrum Disorders
• Substance Use Disorders
• Suicidal Behavior
• Trauma-and Stressor-Related Disorders

Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric crises.
• Perform medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and adherence to seclusion protocols.
• Utilize therapeutic approaches, including psychoeducation tailored to age-specific needs.
• Engage in emergency care, including physical hold protocols when necessary.
Interdisciplinary Support

Collaboration with various healthcare professionals is essential, including:
• Phlebotomy
• Social Services
• Pharmacy
• Unit Secretary
Special Equipment

This position requires familiarity with:
• Hover Jack
• Humane Wrap for patient transport

• Milwaukie, OR
• Newberg, OR
• Portland, OR
• Hood River, OR
• Willamette Falls, OR
• Seaside, OR
• Saint Vincent, OR
Additional Notes
• Must possess a vehicle for travel to various facilities.
• Pursuit of further education and certification in behavioral health is encouraged.
