Job Description

Certification Details • Basic Life Support (BLS) • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) • State of New Mexico Nursing License or Compact State Nursing License Job Details • Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. • Floating between departments and or local locations within 20 miles is required. • Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients. • Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses. • Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team. • Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care. • Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy. • Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care. • Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel. • Provides nursing care for a medically complex patient population awaiting community placement in a long-term stay setting. • Cares for Med/Surg level patients in a facility without a direct escalation path to ICU. • Recognizes, de-escalates, and responds to deteriorating patient conditions. • Maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of One (1) nurse to Seven (7) patients. • Works weekends as needed. • Participates in on-call and call-back coverage as needed. Job Requirements • Two (2) years of current experience in an Eighteen (18) plus bed telemetry or progressive care unit. • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment. • Flexibility to adapt to varying clinical settings and patient needs. • Successful completion of at least one Thirteen (13) week travel assignment. • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) OR Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN). • State of New Mexico Nursing License OR Compact State Nursing License. Schedule Information • Works weekends as needed. • Participates in on-call and call-back coverage as needed. Unit Specific Information • Experience required in an Eighteen (18) plus bed telemetry or progressive care unit. • Provides care for medically complex patients in a progressive care unit (PCU). Additional Details • Selected candidates MUST SUCCESSFULLY PASS a BCA (Basic Cardiac Arrythmia) test administered onsite. • Candidates will not be able to start an assignment until they have passed this test. • One opportunity to re-test if failed; second failure results in contract cancellation and applicable fees. • Experience using Epic EMR preferred.
