Travel Registered Nurse Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Job in Brighton, NY
Job Description
Step into a pivotal role as a Traveling Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health / Psychiatric care, where your clinical judgement and compassionate leadership can transform lives one patient at a time. Beginning 03/02/2026, you’ll join a dynamic network of healthcare professionals delivering patient-centered psychiatric care across Rochester, New York, with the chance to extend your impact to additional facilities across the United States. This assignment is designed for a clinician who thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces complex cases, and values ongoing learning. Expect a competitive weekly pay range of $1,713-$1,838, along with opportunities to grow your expertise, pursue additional assignments, and build a broad professional portfolio that reflects your dedication to high-quality mental health care. While guaranteed hours are not set, you’ll have access to a stable cadence through well-structured schedules and clear extension pathways that reward reliability, clinical proficiency, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
Rochester blends the best of city accessibility with easy access to outdoor beauty and cultural richness. Working here means you can experience the ease of a robust metropolitan health system paired with the charm of a city known for its parks, gardens, and waterfront views. The area’s renowned culinary scene, museums, and festivals provide a vibrant backdrop for personal enrichment. Beyond Rochester, this role offers the chance to rotate through additional locations across New York and select sites nationwide, letting you explore diverse populations, treatment modalities, and community resources. The state itself offers breathtaking places—stroll the scenic shores of Lake Ontario, sip wine on the Finger Lakes wine trails, or hike through rolling hills and protected parks. For many traveling nurses, this blend of urban opportunity and natural splendor makes every week feel purposeful and rewarding, with experiences that extend far beyond the bedside.
In this Behavioral Health / Psychiatric RN role, you’ll be at the forefront of multidisciplinary care. Core responsibilities include conducting in-depth patient assessments, crisis intervention and risk assessment, administering medications per physician orders and evidence-based protocols, and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, social workers, and family members. You’ll provide therapeutic interventions, participate in de-escalation and safety planning, monitor adverse effects, and document care with precision and adherence to regulatory standards. Your clinical duties will also involve discharge planning, coordination with community resources, and patient and family education to empower ongoing recovery. As you grow in this role, you’ll have access to targeted professional development opportunities, including specialty certifications in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and pharmacologic management, as well as mentorship from seasoned psychiatric RNs. The position also supports skill expansion into advanced behavioral health practices, quality improvement initiatives, and leadership avenues within the travel nursing network.
What sets this opportunity apart are the comprehensive benefits designed to support you holistically. A competitive weekly stipend is complemented by a sign-on style bonus in eligible cases, and robust housing assistance to minimize your relocation friction. You’ll benefit from flexible assignment lengths with extension opportunities that align with your professional goals and personal plans. The program emphasizes continuity of care and team stability, so you’ll work with familiar, supportive colleagues while still enjoying exposure to different patient populations and care settings. Importantly, nationwide travel carries 24/7 support from a dedicated team, ensuring you’re never navigating challenges alone—from onboarding and credentialing to clinical support and logistics. You’ll have access to licensing assistance, continuing education resources, and a wide network of peers to share best practices and clinical insights. This is a role where you can deepen your psychiatric nursing practice, refine your therapeutic communication skills, and contribute to outcomes that matter at every step of a patient’s recovery journey.
The company behind this assignment is committed to empowering its nursing staff through a culture of respect, professional growth, and collaborative excellence. You’ll find a supportive environment that values your voice, recognises your contributions, and invests in career advancement. Whether you aspire to become a specialized crisis intervention expert, a clinical educator, or a program lead, the platform provides the scaffolding, mentorship, and opportunities to move forward on your terms. A focus on work-life balance, safety, and inclusive team dynamics ensures you can deliver compassionate care while maintaining personal well-being and resilience. The organization understands that great care begins with empowered caregivers who feel valued and supported, and it structures roles, resources, and policies to reflect that belief every day.
If you’re ready to blend clinical mastery with exploration, this is your invitation to apply. Join a program that respects your expertise, rewards your dedication, and helps you carve a path toward meaningful leadership in behavioral health nursing. Take the next step to expand your horizons, serve diverse communities, and grow your career in a role that honors both your professional skills and your personal aspirations. Ready to embark on this exciting journey and make a lasting impact? Apply today and become part of a team that prioritizes your development as much as patient well-being.
