Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
• Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Start Date: December 29, 2025
• End Date: March 28, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250
Registered Nurse Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN or in a cardiac/stepdown unit
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
• Deliver direct nursing care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery cases
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans according to cardiac stepdown unit standards
• Implement, monitor, and adjust nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation
• Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing care and clinical support activities
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Participate in hourly rounding and proactively support both internal and external customers
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and meet all hospital and unit-based competencies
• Engage in ongoing professional development and provide constructive feedback to colleagues
