Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
• Location: Leonardtown, MD 20650 (Maryland healthcare job)
• Unit: Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: April 6, 2026
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1590 - $1710
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing (W2)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required (schedule directed by unit needs)
• Float: Required to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed
Registered Nurse Qualifications
• Active RN license in Maryland or Compact State (required for Maryland travel nursing jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in PCU, IMC, or Stepdown nursing
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Previous charge nurse experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing patient ratios of 4-6
• Ability to float to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units (ratios 1:5/1:6)
• Two supervisor references required
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• First-time travel nurses welcome
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions in a stepdown setting
• Monitor and manage cardiac drips (non-titratable), dysrhythmias, and telemetry
• Care for patients with chest tubes, central lines, feeding tubes, and PCA infusions
• Administer IV medications, insulin protocols, and oxygen therapies (including high flow nasal cannula, CPAP, BIPAP)
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy
• Float to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Participate in bedside monitoring and utilize special equipment such as ultrasound IV and lift equipment
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and infection control protocols
