Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Location: Thomasville, Georgia (31792) – South Georgia healthcare jobs
• Unit: Cardiac Progressive Unit (CPU) – Stepdown nursing
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:00)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1610
• Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric cardiac patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• EMR System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue (not provided)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Georgia or compact state
• Minimum 3 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• IV start and management skills
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records (EMR)
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Minimal to no requested time off, especially during holidays
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients in a clinical setting
• Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac telemetry rhythms
• Initiate and manage IVs, cardiac drips (no titration), and vasoactive drips
• Care for central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and feeding tubes
• Administer blood products and manage oxygen therapy for cardiac patients
• Perform wound care and operate wound vacs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Respond to rapid response and code situations
• Accurately document patient care in Cerner EMR system
