Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights – 3×12 Hours (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Float Required: Yes – float to Med-Surg (MS) as needed
Block Schedule: Not Available
Call Required: No
Position Overview
The ICU at Lovelace Regional Hospital provides high-acuity care to adult patients, including post-cardiac procedures, ventilated patients, and those requiring complex cardiovascular or multi-system support. Nurses function in a 1:2 ICU ratio and a 1:6 Med-Surg ratio when floated. Rotating weekend coverage is required. First-time travel nurses are accepted.
Requirements
Licensure:
• Active NM RN License or Compact License – Required (Must be in hand at submission)
Experience:
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience – Required
• First-time travelers – Accepted
Patient Ratio Experience:
• ICU: 1:2
• Med-Surg: 1:6
Travel Experience:
• Travel experience not required
Teaching/Community Hospital Experience:
• Preferred but not required
Local Radius Rule:
• Locals within 50 miles – Not Accepted
Certifications
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
Charting System
• Any – Required

IV and Vascular Access
• Peripheral IV initiation and maintenance
• Central line care and management
• Arterial line management
• Accessing/managing ports
• Blood product administration
Respiratory and Ventilation
• Ventilator management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Care of ventilated patients
• Assist with BiPAP/CPAP
• Suctioning (ETT/NT)
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Cardiac and Hemodynamics
• Post cardiac surgery care (not directly from OR) – Preferred
• Pre/Post cardiac catheterization
• Pulmonary artery line (Swan-Ganz) monitoring – Preferred
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Emergency medication administration
Neurological and Gastrointestinal
• CVA / Acute Stroke management
• GI surgery patient care
Professional Practice
• Infection prevention / PPE
• Isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy
• Wound management / surgical wounds with drains / wound vac
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Management of patients with multi-system organ dysfunction/failure
• IV insulin protocols
