Job Description and Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg • Discipline: RN • Start Date: 03/02/2026 • Duration: 13 weeks • 36 hours per week • Shift: 12 hours, nights • Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Job Details: • Work on a major trauma unit caring for adults and geriatric patients • Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends • 24-bed unit with daily census of 24 patients • 12-hour orientation required • Must work every other holiday • Float requirement to all other inpatient units as needed • Weekend coverage required • Schedule assigned as needed per unit - no guarantee of specific scheduling requests • 2 years of experience in specialty required • Travel experience required • Neuro surgery experience is required • Must live over 65 miles from facility (no local travelers accepted) • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS • Preferred certifications: Additional ACLS and NIH training • Must have Compact or Louisiana license in hand upon submittal • NURSYS report required with profile (within 4 weeks of submission) • Care for patients with multi-trauma, seizure, GSW, falls, TBI, stroke, sepsis, psychiatric conditions, epidural hematomas, cerebral edema, and orthopedic trauma • Perform special procedures including craniotomy, spinal fusions, ORIF, muscle flaps, skin grafts, amputations, and spinal stimulator care • Work with specialized equipment including traction, external fixators, PCA pumps, wound vacs, chest tubes, central lines, and various surgical drains • Skills required include blood product administration, PICC line management, IV insertion, pre/post neurosurgery care, TBI management, and isolation precautions • May be assigned to Emergency Team during emergency events with expectation to remain at facility Facility: This major medical center operates a comprehensive trauma unit specializing in neurosurgery and orthopedic trauma care.
