16 James Hematology Oncology - D/N - AYA OFFER (MED SURG UNIT)
If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.
HEMATOLOGY ONCOLOGY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED. MEDSURG EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
ONS CERTIFICATION PREFFERED ($)
Staffing ratios - goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5
• Weekends - variable based on unit needs
• No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff
• Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule
• First week of orientation is Mon - Fri dayshift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology Units
Patient Diagnoses
• Lymphoma
• Multiple Myeloma
• Acute leukemias
• Chronic Leukemias
• Sickle Cell Disease
• other non hem cancers
• Other benign hematology
Special Procedures/Unit Details
• Chemotherapy
• Blood transfusions
• IV Antibiotics
• Oncologic emergencies: tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome
• Insulin drips
• Heparin drips
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls
Certifications Required
• BLS
• ACLS

• Telemetry
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry -on the unit monitoring
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Feeding tube care and management
IV therapy/Phlebotomy
