Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a Multi Care Unit requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and ACLS/BLS certifications.
Responsibilities
• Work in an acute care hospital Multi Care Unit supporting ICU, PCU, and Med/Surg patients
• 10-bed unit with combined acuity: ICU (1:2 ratio), PCU (1:4), MST (1:5-6), or 1:3 if no nurse aid is available
• Care for a range of cases including sepsis, drug or alcohol withdrawal, respiratory arrest, DKA, post-op complications, and heart rate or blood pressure abnormalities
• RNs are required to titrate drips such as sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
• Utilizes Cerner as the EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• Floating required to MST and Pediatric units for adult assignments as well as to West Campus for ICU/PCU with two hours' notice
• May be placed on standby if census is low
• Remote monitor techs support PCU and MST patients; RNs must interpret 12-lead EKGs and manage bedside cardiac monitors
• RNs provide care for all acuity levels within the unit and may act as primary nurse for PCU/MST patients without nurse aid support
• Charge RN supports a broader inpatient area including MST, PEDS, and the Multi Care Unit
• Respiratory therapy support for ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP is available
• RNs must demonstrate competency in sterile techniques for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientation
• Scrubs of any color are permitted except camouflage
• Holiday shifts are distributed through a fair rotation
• Unit and hospital orientation provided
Requirements
• Active AZ or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience, or at least 1 year ICU plus 1 year PCU/Med/Surg experience in a larger facility with strong skills
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (Relias) prior to contract; failure after two attempts results in disqualification for 6 months
• Must not have been employed (FT/PT/PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health in the past 12 months
• Proof of driver’s license required
• Two recent references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
• Required to reside at least 50 miles from the facility
