Job Description
Step into a pivotal role as a Registered Nurse in Short Stay, San Luis Obispo, California, beginning 02/16/2026. This fast-paced short-stay environment puts you at the forefront of patient recovery, where your clinical expertise and compassionate leadership guide individuals through rapid transitions from acute care to home or next care steps. You’ll assess, prioritize, and respond to evolving patient needs with precision, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient discharges. Your impact extends beyond the bedside: you’ll educate families, advocate for evidence-based practices, and contribute to streamlined pathways that shorten hospital stays without compromising quality. If you’re energized by diverse clinical challenges, this assignment offers a meaningful platform to elevate your practice, sharpen decision-making skills, and experience the satisfaction of helping patients regain independence quickly. And because growth thrives in vibrant surroundings, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore California’s renowned coastline, redwood forests, and famed wine regions during your time off—an invitation to recharge and bring renewed energy to every shift.
Location Benefits: San Luis Obispo sits on California’s scenic Central Coast, where temperate weather, palm-lined streets, and breathtaking ocean views create an inviting backdrop for diligent nursing care. Working here means you’ll experience a community that blends university energy with small-town charm, offering excellent dining, cultural events, and outdoor recreation just moments from your shift. For travel nurses who crave variety, this assignment can open doors to locations across the U.S., expanding your clinical exposure—from bustling city hospitals to tranquil coastal facilities. You’ll benefit from a supportive infrastructure designed for traveling professionals, including onboarding guidance, flexible housing options, and ongoing access to resources that help you deliver high-quality care while enjoying a balanced, fulfilling lifestyle.
Role Specifics and Benefits: As a Short Stay RN, you’ll deliver direct patient care to individuals recovering from procedures or acute events who require brief, focused observation and rapid rehabilitation. Your responsibilities include comprehensive initial assessments, frequent reassessments, medication administration, monitoring of vitals and clinical status, and timely escalation when clinical changes arise. You’ll collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and ancillary teams to create efficient, patient-centered care plans, coordinate safe transitions, and provide patient education that supports self-management after discharge. You’ll have opportunities for professional growth within the Short Stay specialty, developing expertise in rapid-care protocols, post-acute planning, and care coordination that strengthens overall patient outcomes. The package features competitive compensation with weekly pay ranging from $2,128 to $2,239, reflecting your experience and the assignment’s responsibilities. In addition to competitive pay, you’ll receive housing assistance to ease relocation and housing logistics, a bonus program designed to recognize your commitment, and extension opportunities that allow you to continue contributing your skills in the same or closely related settings. A cornerstone of this role is the comprehensive support available—24/7 assistance while traveling with the company, including clinical advisory access, credentialing support, and a dedicated liaison to help you navigate assignment logistics, shift changes, and community integration. You’ll be supported by a team that values your contributions, provides mentorship, and helps you align your assignments with your long-term career goals. Note that hours are not guaranteed (0.0 guaranteed hours) to reflect the fluid nature of travel assignments, and final compensation packages will be confirmed during the hiring process.
Company Values: Our organization is grounded in empowering staff, prioritizing your professional development, and fostering a welcoming, collaborative culture. We champion continuous learning, provide pathways for advancement within the Short Stay discipline, and celebrate the diverse experiences you bring to the team. Expect a supportive environment where leadership is accessible, feedback is constructive, and your well-being is integral to daily operations. We believe in recognizing excellence, enabling mobility across assignments to broaden your clinical horizons, and offering resources that help you grow from bedside clinician to seasoned care coordinator—while you maintain the high standards of compassionate, patient-centered care that define our mission.
