Registered Nurse – Surgical Specialty (Med Surg) | Travel Contract

Onsite: 100% in-person
Position Overview

This role provides high-quality nursing care on a Surgical Specialty/Med-Surg unit. The RN will care for patients with a range of medical and surgical needs—from routine to complex—while collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates are confident, adaptable, and experienced in both Med-Surg and step-down or surgical settings.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage an assigned group of patients and deliver safe, competent care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
• Support physicians during exams, minor procedures, and treatments
• Obtain and monitor patient physiological data; respond to changes promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as ordered
• Educate patients and families on care plans, hospital processes, and discharge needs
• Coordinate referrals and communicate patient needs to the care team
• Delegate tasks to support staff appropriately
• Perform additional duties as needed
Required Qualifications
• Active RN license (Oklahoma or compact multistate)
• Minimum 1 year RN experience
• Strong Med-Surg and/or Surgical Specialty background
• Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures
• Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate care effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Basic computer proficiency
• BLS (AHA) required
Preferred Qualifications
• BSN or higher
• Additional specialty experience
