Job Description and Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg • Discipline: RN • Start Date: 03/02/2026 • Duration: 13 weeks • 36 hours per week • Shift: 12 hours, days • Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Job Details: • Provide nursing care to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex • Care for pre and post-operative surgical patients including those with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT • Handle patient ratios of 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down area patients • Assume responsibility for assigned group of patients • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments • Assist physicians in examinations and minor diagnostic procedures • Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products • Interact with families and patients regarding care plans and discharge planning • Make referrals for patient care needs and delegate tasks to support staff • Must have travel experience and level 1 experience required • Stepdown/PCU experience required • Must have acute care surgical floor experience • ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred • 1 year of nursing experience required • Associate's Degree in Nursing from accredited program required • Current Oklahoma RN License or multistate compact RN License required • Current Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association required • Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills • Computer skills required Facility: This academic medical center serves as a major teaching hospital and regional referral center, providing comprehensive healthcare services including advanced surgical specialties.
